Chana Masala |
Cholle ( Chickpea) is a rich source of protein and fibre. And what
we also know is Chana masala with a bhatura is perfect for breakfast or even
for a meal and undoubtedly famous and delicious with a samosa.
My mom is an amazing
cook and I bet whoever has met her would vouch for that, So I am going to share her recipe of this delicious cholle gravy or
chick pea curry with you :)
Ingredients:
3 tomatoes
2 fried onions
3 stems of Coriander
3 cloves of garlic
Inch of ginger
Half green chilly
One can of chickpeas ( 240 gm)
Spices 1 tsp. each:
Garam masala
Coriander Powder
Cumin powder
Turmeric
Chilly powder ( Kashmiri chili powder will give a lovely red
color)
Amchur / dry mango powder
Oil
Equipment/ Utensil:
Blender, Pressure Cooker.
Method:
Step 1:
In a blender grind tomatoes, fried onions, garlic, ginger, coriander,
chilly ( add a little water) to a fine paste.
Step 2:
Heat some oil in a pressure cooker, add the ground masala (
from step 1) to the cooker, add some water to the blender keep it aside. Add all the spices and a pinch of salt
Sauté till it turns brown and you can see the oil
separating. This rich gravy can be used to make any curry ( for eg. Paneer)
Step 3:
Add the water (from the blender) mix and add chick peas (cholle)
add some more water if required ( I add about 100 – 200 ml enough to cover the
chickpeas). Adjust the seasoning add more salt and spices if required and
pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
After a few minutes ( after all the pressure releases)
transfer the chickpeas to a serving bowl garnish with chopped coriander, Serve
it with a wedge of lemon and onions. This chickpea gravy is simply delicious
try it with bhatura or rice.
